12 Clowns/Clowns Haiku

Introduction

# 12 Clowns/Clowns Haiku is the twelfth of the Haiku writings by Henk Luijten. These Haikus have originally been written by Henk in his native language Dutch. Shortly after we got acquainted Camille made the illustrations for the writings. Not familiar with Dutch as a language yet. Consequently, it was a project through which Camille made herself more familiar with some of the aspects of the Dutch language. To catch the gist of the poems and translate the words into an image. Further, she also translated the Dutch poems into English.

What the poem is about

The “12 Clowns/Clowns” Haiku by Henk Luijten is about the clowns in the circus we observe in everyday life.In this case the political circus, in which these clowns have slowly but steadily infiltrated. Indeed you see them everywhere. That in itself can be considered very democratic, as Henk writes.
Does this imply he passes judgement on these contemporary clowns? Well, by also saying it is very democratic. or, by saying his last sentence, he implies that this process of emerging clowns in politics can be considered to be a very democratic one.

Translation

For the translation into English Camille could literally translate this poem. The meaning of the poem in English is similar to that of the words in Dutch.
